DMYAT is excited to announce a free workshop on Broadway song styles for artists 8-18! Working one on one with our vocal coaches, each young artist will receive individual lessons (held either virtually or in-person) covering one song in a specific style of musical theatre. Coaches include Tina Haase Findlay (jazz standards and musical theatre), Alison Buechler (classic Broadway), and Alex Lindsley (contemporary musical theatre). 

 

The workshop will culminate in several unique performance opportunities held both virtually and outdoors throughout the month of June. 

 

The number of participants is strictly limited to guarantee individual attention. Up to 15 places are available; all applications will be reviewed and placed with a coach in the order they are received.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Tina Haase Findlay has a long history of performing in Des Moines and beyond. She is the youngest member of the Iowa Jazz Society and regularly performs at Noce. For DMYAT Sings Broadway, Tina will be bring her extensive jazz and musical expertise to teaching Jazz Broadway standards.

Alison Buechler has a master’s degree in Vocal Performance and is highly involved in the local theater scene in Des Moines. Most recently, she played Emma in Jekyll and Hyde with Newton Community Theater. Alison will bring her extensive knowledge of classic styles to DMYAT Sings Broadway by teaching Classic Musical Theatre standards.

Alex Lindsley is a Indianola native who is an experienced performer and director. Most recently, he directed The Hunchback of Notre Dame for Carousel Theater; in June, he will perform in a Sondheim concert for Tallgrass Theatre. Alex will be teaching Contemporary Musicals for DMYAT Sings Broadway.
