PRODUCTION UPDATE
To our DMYAT Family and Friends,
As we continue to navigate the ever-changing COVID-19 situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
We told you this spring that the safety and well-being of our DMYAT families is our top priority. That remains true. We have exhausted all possible options to mount this production safely, including a virtual production (rights are not available to produce this show virtually due to the film adaptation). In this case, an old theater adage has proven false: without our students in a room together and a live, in-person audience, the show cannot go on.
We are sure this news comes as a disappointment to you as it is to us. Rest assured, that while DMYAT remains dark a bit longer than we hoped, we have not stopped working behind the scenes. We are using this time to raise funds, plan ahead, and emerge a stronger, more sustainable organization on the other end.
For those of you who purchased tickets to the originally-scheduled production, expect an email from Des Moines Performing Arts in the coming days. You will have the option to receive a refund or to donate your ticket cost to Des Moines Young Artists' Theatre. If you are able, we hope you consider donating to help us offer a rich, vibrant theater home for your family when we reopen.
We thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors - Des Moines Young Artists' Theatre
by CS LEWIS
dramatized by JOSEPH ROBINETTE
During World War II, four siblings (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie) are evacuated from London and sent to live with an old Professor in his safe countryside home. The youngest sibling, Lucy, soon stumbles into a wardrobe and discovers a magnificent world full of magic, talking animals, and ancient prophecies. It isn’t long before all four Pevensies are fighting a war of their own alongside the powerful Aslan to save Narnia from the evil forces of Jadis, the White Witch.
This beloved story by C.S. Lewis comes to magical life with inspiring messages of love, faith, and courage.
