about the play
Separated from his mother, a young refugee called Anon journeys through the United States, encountering a wide variety of people -- some kind, some dangerous and cruel -- as he searches for his family. From a sinister one-eyed butcher to beguiling barflies to a sweatshop, Anon must navigate through a chaotic, ever-changing landscape in this entrancing adaptation of Homer's Odyssey.
Because of the mature content, this production is recommended for ages 13 and above.

January 3 starting at 6:30 pm, callbacks on January 4 at 6:30 pm.
Please prepare a 1 minute dramatic monologue for your audition. It does not have to be memorized.
This show will be casting ages 8+, including adults.

character breakdowns
Anon: (Teen Role) Young protagonist modeled after Odysseus from the Odyssey. He is a refugee lost in the USA. He struggles to remember his past and wanders from place to place on a dreamlike journey to find a sense of home, hopeful to find his mother.
Pascal/Ensemble: (Teen Role) Pascal is one of Anon’s friends. He is an immigrant. He is adventurous and not very cautious.
Calista/Nice American Daughter/Ensemble: (Teen Role) Calista is Anon’s adopted sister in the US. She is blind to her privilege and proud of her rich, American background. Same actor will play the Nice American daughter.
Naja/Ensemble: (Teen Role) Naja is a goddess and Anon’s biggest ally. She is here to help Anon on his quest. She is modeled after the Goddess Athena.
Nasreen/Sewing Lady #3/Ensemble: (Teen Role) Nasreen is Ritu and Ali’s daughter. She becomes friends with Anon. Same actor will join the chorus of sewing ladies
Belen/Sewing Lady #2/Ensemble: (Teen Role) Belen, an immigrant and one of Anon’s friends, lost her father Ignacio, who she now sees as a ghost. Actor will also join the chorus of sewing ladies.
Nemasani: (Adult Role) Anon’s young mother. She lost him at sea and now works for a sewing factory in the US, hoping to find her son one day. The actor playing this role must be willing to sing/hum a lullaby on stage.
Mr. Mackus/Strygal/Lone Barfly/Ensemble: (Adult Role) Mr. Mackus is the sleazy manager at the sewing factory. He wants to marry Nemasani and is a little aggressive about his interest. Same actor will play Strygal, a human traffic criminal and the Lone Barfly.
Mr. Laius/Mr. Zyclo/Nice American Father/Ensemble: (Adult Role) Mr. Laius is the Senator of the US city the factory is in, He’s a figure of power and authority. Same actor will play Mr. Zyclo, a One eyed butcher that eats people (Modeled after the Cyclops); and the Nice American Father.
Mrs. Laius/Pet Bird/Nice American Mother/Ensemble: (Adult Role) Mrs. Laius is the Senator’s wife. She shows interest in Nemasani’s story, but only to satisfy her morbid imagination. Same actor will play Mr. Zyclo’s pet bird, the Nice American Mother
Ali/Ignacio/Ensemble: (Adult Role) Ali is Nasreen’s father and Ritu’s husband with whom he owns an Indian restaurant. Same actor will play Ignacio, the ghost of Belen’s father.
Ritu/Sewing Lady #1/Serza/Ensemble: (Adult Role) Ritu is Nasreen’s mother. She is married to Ali and is the co-owner of the restaurant. Same actor will join the chorus of sewing ladies and play Serza the bartender.
Ensemble will depict war, storms, refugees, a sweatshop factory, animals, freight-hoppers and more through movement work.
