about the play

7.3 billion people exist on a small blue & green planet.

12,000 people exist in a neighborhood.

80 people exist on an early-morning street.

1 boy stands at a bus stop...with 7.3 billion thoughts colliding in his super-full brain.

The Boy at the Edge of Everything tells the story of 12-year-old Simon Ives, who just longs for some space. Between music lessons, soccer, Taekwondo, homework, younger brothers, Dad jokes, and more homework, he can’t find the chance to just stop and be. Meanwhile, at the edge of the universe lives a Boy, lonely and bored. After an unlikely series of events (involving a meditation tank and lots and lots of fireworks), their worlds collide and neither will ever be the same.

DMYAT is proud to present the Iowa premiere of this award-winning adventure through space and time by internationally acclaimed playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer. Take your family on an imaginative and unforgettable journey exploring balance, boundaries, and growing up in an ever-expanding world.
